 Janes Island and the Wicomico River offer some of the most pristine and beautiful areas for paddling on the eastern Chesapeake Bay shore.   Enjoy a fun and relaxing paddling weekend with all of the comforts of an intimate Bed & Breakfast. The 19th century Whitehaven Hotel, set right on the edge of the Wicomico River, makes a great base camp for the weekends paddling excursions. Paddle with us Saturday at Janes Island State Park, one of the acclaimed places for kayaking on the Chesapeake Bay.   Janes Island is a wildlife refuge, protected by the state of Maryland, offering 2,600 acres wet salt marsh, sandy beaches, and intricate water trails throughout the island with plenty of opportunities to sight various aquatic and bird life.

Then paddle with us on Sunday as we explore the Wicomico River from our base at the Whitehaven Hotel.
We will paddle into nearby wildlife sanctuary, home for many Great Herein and their young.   On prior visits,
I have witnessed Bald Eagles.  Many species of birds may be observed in this migratory time of the year.

Enjoy a special Saturday evening dinner at The Red Roost, a local favorite and famous Chesapeake Bay restaurant. The Red Roost, once a working chicken house, boasts some of best seafood and southern Maryland food on the Eastern Shore.
